Starting January 1st, social media and internet messaging services must be licensed.

The MCMC says any of these services with at least eight million users must apply for the license, although the requirement does not apply to individual users.

This is aimed at getting these platforms to comply with Malaysian laws, to combat offences like online fraud, cyber bullying, scams and sexual crimes against children.

The Johor state government plans to start a pilot project next year…to have schools that focus on English as well as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics or STEM education.

The Johor MB says the program will initially begin with two primary and two secondary schools, before being expanded in the future.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry is currently negotiating with F&B operators…to lower the price of food items that contain less or no sugar.

Its part of the Ministry’s Less Sugar Lower Price campaign…which is aimed at encouraging Malaysians to lower their sugar intake.

Sarawak’s Niah Caves complex been officially listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site…which is the fifth such honour for Malaysia.

The others to be given world heritage status include the Gunung Mulu National Park… as well as Melaka and Georgetown.

And, the Met Department has issued a level one heat advisory for parts of Sarawak, Kedah, Kelantan, and Perak…with expected daily temperatures of between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius.
