The operations of government agencies has not been affected by Friday’s global IT outage.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof says only the aviation sector has been affected so far.

He also assured that measures are being taken to address and mitigate the issue effectively.

Meanwhile, the Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team is warning of increased phishing and malware attacks, by parties that are out to take advantage of the IT outage.

Its advising organisations to stay updated with the latest online security measures, and to maintain best practices.

The IGP is warning social media users to avoid posting speculation and false comments that threaten the safety of others.

He says this can lead to slander and defamation…which constitutes a criminal offence.

He said this in the wake of such comments being posted with regards to the Nur Farah Kartini murder case.

The Health Ministry says nearly six thousand fines, worth over 1.4 million ringgit, were issued in the month of June for smoking offences.

It adds that some 25 thousand premises were inspected during the period.
