MoT: No More Lesen Terbang

Mar 05, 2024

mot: no more lesen terbang

The Transport Ministry expects its new e-testing system to put an end to the problem of lesen terbang, and other forms of corruption during driving tests.

Its minister Anthony Loke says it's because the new pilot system eliminates the need to have JPJ officers inside the vehicle while a candidate is being tested...

Under the e-testing system, driving test candidates are assessed based on electronic sensors and cameras.

Data from the driving test will be assessed by a computer system, which determines if the candidate passes or fails.

--

Also, the Transport Minister says express bus operators can seek approval from the Land Public Transport Agency to drop off higher learning students inside campus grounds.

Approval will be given in specific situations, especially late at night and when it is hard for students to get last-mile transport, such taxis or e-hailing rides.

--

DPM Datuk Seri Dr Zahid Hamidi has withdrawn a motion to suspend Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan from Parliament, over his recent corruption allegations against the PM.

This is after Wan Saiful issued an apology and retracted his statement.

--

The government has reiterated that it has no plans to replace the current Sales and Services Tax with a more broad-based system like GST.

The Finance Ministry says it would be too much of a burden for vulnerable groups.

--

The Court of Appeal is expected to give its decision tomorrow, on former Felda chairman Tan Sri Isa Samad's appeal against his conviction on nine counts of corruption.

--

And Maritim Malaysia has confirmed that all 4 people on board were unhurt, after its helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing near Pulau Angsa, Klang during a rescue training exercise this morning.
