The flooding in Batu Pahat, Johor may continue beyond the start of Ramadan.

The district disaster committee chairman told the NST, the flood situation there has yet to enter the stagnant phase, because there is still a large amount of water flowing in.

Batu Pahat remains the worst-affected district in Johor, accounting for some 98 percent of the 38 thousand-plus evacuees in the state.

The Prime Minister’s Department has denied viral claims on social media, that tomorrow would be declared a public holiday to mark Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh’s win at the Oscars.

The Department clarified that the widely-shared image, which was manipulated to look like it came from an online news portal, is actually fake.

Members of the public are urged not to share such fake news, and to verify information with official sources.

The Health Ministry has been urged to ensure there is sufficient manpower for the extended operating hours at selected government health clinics.

The Malaysian Medical Association says that while it agrees with the longer clinic hours to ease congestion at government hospitals… authorities need to ensure that staff are not overworked.

The MMA also agrees with the Health Minister’s proposal for private GP’s to be roped in to participate in the initiative.

Police have opened an investigation paper against Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for allegedly issuing a slanderous statement against the Prime Minister.

This comes after the cops received a report filed by the PM’s political secretary over the statement, which was said to have been issued during Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s press conference after he was charged in court last week.

The Economy Minister says he does not expect Malaysian companies to suffer a direct impact from the collapse of the US-based Silicon Valley Bank.

Rafizi Ramli says this is because no major Malaysian firms have deposits at the bank, which deals mainly with big startups in Silicon Valley.
