The government has targeted to lower the abnormal or stunted growth rate among Malaysians to 8% by 2030.

This, from the 21.3% rate in 2019.

The Health Ministry says Malaysia is currently facing issues of malnutrition, especially among children younger than 5-years-old, as well as a rise in obesity among adults.

It adds that the states that recorded the highest percentage of stunted growth are Kelantan, Pahang, Terengganu, and Putrajaya.
