nutp says doing away pt3 was right move

The National Union of the Teaching Profession has welcomed the government’s

decision to abolish the PT3 Form Three Assessment examination starting this year.

However, the NUTP says many parents are concerned over the methods that could be

used to evaluate students’ academic proficiency following the abolishment.

As such, it says the Education Ministry needs to strengthen school-based assessment to ease their concerns.

The government has warned that immediate action can be taken against those who post statements that touch on religious and racial sentiments, as well as posts that insult the royal institution.

The Communications and Multimedia Ministry says authorities need not wait for reports to be lodged to act on the matter, unlike other cyber offences.

It was responding to recent incidents in which some netizens insulted Sabah’s Kaamatan Festival.
