Apr 20, 2022

special epf withdrawal: be patient

Those who have yet to receive payment under the special EPF withdrawal scheme have been reminded not to worry.

The Finance Minister reiterated that payment, which began on Monday, is being credited in stages.

Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz says some will receive the payment in the coming days.

He adds that the EPF has received over 5 million applications involving withdrawals of some RM40 billion.

He says it is a challenge for EPF to channel such a large amount in a short period of time.

The minister also says the retirement fund is committed to complete all applications before Hari Raya Aidilfitri

Meanwhile, those planning to apply for the withdrawal scheme can do so until the end of this month.

The Johor crown prince has called for child protection laws to be enhanced immediately.

The Tunku Mahkota of Johor says the enhancement should include aspects of childcare centre registration, and monitoring, among others, to ensure all operators are operating legally.

This comes amid an ongoing trial involving a 13-year-old girl with Down Syndrome, who was allegedly abused while in the care of a welfare home in KL.
